A themed tour through the faithfully preserved apartment of the writer Anna Seghers in Berlin-Adlershof, where she lived from 1955 until her death in 1983. The Akademie der Künste invites visitors; after registering by email, the apartment can be viewed with its furnishings, personal mementos and some 10,000 books. The tour asks about the power of words: Seghers returned in 1947 as a world-famous author from Mexican exile and put her writing at the service of the new society, also as president of the writers' association of the GDR. While her work met with rejection in West Germany, she was a role model for many authors of the young GDR such as Christa Wolf and Heiner Müller.
