"Das Schloss im Himmel" is an animated film regarded as an early masterpiece by the anime legend Hayao Miyazaki. Pazu, an orphan boy working in a mine, meets the girl Sheeta one evening, who floats down from the sky after letting herself fall from an airship. She is fleeing pirates and army secret agents who are after the blue stone on her necklace. Little by little, the two learn that Sheeta is in truth the rightful heir to the throne of the legendary flying island Laputa.
