The evening presents a film screening of the song opera "Der süße Duft kommt nicht von Rosen, genannt Leichenoper" followed by a panel talk as part of the Berlin Freedom Week 2026. The 1990 television production by DFF was made with music by Christoph Schambach, lyrics by Daniel Morgenroth and direction by Peter Dehler, featuring Thorsten Merten, Christiane Hagedorn, Deborah Kaufmann, Claudia Geisler and others. One morning, the civil-servant couple Rohmayer discover the motionless mayor in their bedroom and wonder how he got there and, above all, how he will get out. Afterwards, everyone discusses the play together, its fascinating history and art in politically challenging times.
