A film evening followed by an audience talk about the controversial megaprojects “Tren Maya” and “Corridor Interoceánico” in southern Mexico. The film “Die schiefe Bahn” by Zwischenzeit shows how, since 2018, the Morena government has been building rail networks, airports and harbours with the military, clearing forests and expropriating indigenous land. The Maya and other indigenous groups resist the plans, which threaten their cosmovision and food sovereignty. After the screening, speakers Heiko Thiele and Sherin Abu-Chouka discuss current developments; Daniella Gaub moderates, and the event is a cooperation with CAREA e.V. Admission is free, registration is requested.
