»Die unglaubliche Geschichte von der Riesenbirne« (The Incredible Story of the Giant Pear) is an animated film for children. When the friendly mayor J.B. disappears without a trace, cat Mika and elephant Sebastian find a message in a bottle containing a letter and a seed, which grows overnight into a giant pear that serves as their vessel. Together with the eccentric Professor Glykose they set out to rescue the mayor, braving adventures with pirates and sea monsters along the way. Based on the bestselling children's book by Danish author Jakob Martin Strid, the film was made as a blend of puppet and computer animation and screened in the Berlinale's children's and youth section »Generation«.
