Ditha Brickwell reads from two of her most important novels, which also have a little to do with Kladow, at Kladower Forum, capping the evening with a »Zuckerl« from her hometown Vienna. »Der Kinderdieb« tells of Otto, a young man coming of age in the dark Vienna of the 1950s, who falls in love with a refugee girl from Hungary and does something unheard of to find comfort. »Die andere Seite der Nacht. Eine Erzählung vom Standhalten und Überleben« recounts the fate of Jewish families in Berlin and their Christian helpers during the National Socialist era. The author, committed to justice and democratic values, engages lively with her audience.
