“Einer von Euch sein.” is a staged reading in the form of figure theatre about childhood and youth from 1933 to 1945, between participation, refusal and deportation. The production by Susi Claus and Astrid Endruweit, directed by Astrid Endruweit with dramaturgy and performance by both, is for young people aged 13 and up and adults. It tells how children who were friends were suddenly split into “one kind” and “the other”, how “Heil Hitler” replaced “Good morning” at school, and how Jewish children were excluded, persecuted and deported. The reading is based on original documents and anonymised eyewitness accounts, and includes a temporary monument by Stefka Ammon and puppet building by Judith Mähler.
