This is a public guided tour in English through the exhibition “Controversial Kinship. Colonial and National Socialist Violence” at the Deutsches Historisches Museum. The museum explores the debates surrounding the parallels and differences between colonial violence and the violence of National Socialism. In each section, objects relating to both themes are presented – ranging from propaganda posters and works of art to everyday objects such as dolls or items of clothing. The tour concludes with a joint examination of key themes such as racism and anti-Semitism, resistance and collaboration, forced labour and repression.
