A homage to the Brazilian writer Ignácio de Loyola Brandão on his 90th birthday, featuring his documentary film “Eu não sei viver sem palavras” followed by a talk. André Brandão's film is a personal, sensitive biopic of the multifaceted author, showing a special father-son relationship and how Loyola sensed and anticipated social developments in his writing. Ute Hermanns introduces his life and work and presents the director, who comments on his film in the ensuing conversation. A small display case exhibition shows works, translations, photos and letters from the institute's collection.
