„Genya“ is a film premiere: the first screening of a documentary about Yevheniia (Genya) Sydorova, one of the last surviving women of the Ravensbrück concentration camp for women. The event is organized by the Foundation Remembrance, Responsibility and Future (EVZ), which presents the film on the occasion of its 25th anniversary under the motto „KEINE ZEIT ZU VERGESSEN“ (no time to forget). The Ukrainian director Lesya Kharchenko accompanied Genya during the last months of her life, showing how she dealt with violence and loss – memories of her father's execution, her deportation and her forced labor in Germany are part of her story. At its center is the question of whether forgiveness after the unforgivable is possible; afterwards, the director and invited guests discuss the film in a panel talk.
