'Giacometti. Figur. Raum' is an exhibition of sculpture, painting and works on paper by Alberto Giacometti, centred on four bronzes. It is curated by Brigitte Hausmann of the Fachbereich Kultur Steglitz-Zehlendorf, and the works come from the collection of Helmut Klewan, who owns the most extensive private collection of Giacometti's works in the German-speaking world. The bronzes on show – Petit buste sur double socle, Femme debout, La Cage (première version) and Tête de Diego – are exemplary of an œuvre whose motifs became increasingly reduced to a few subjects: standing women, walking men, heads and crowds in the streets of Paris. Accompanying paintings and works on paper make Giacometti's engagement with figure and space tangible.
