“Houses (Batim)” is a German feature film from 2025, followed by a Q&A with director Veronica Nicole Tetelbaum. Her enigmatic, contemplative feature debut tells of Sasha, a young, non-binary person who, on a transformative journey through the ghostly houses of a desolate Safed, must face the ghosts of the past. The family dog Rem, believed dead, suddenly reappears and becomes a loyal companion, while in their former parental home the queer artist Anna offers the traveller temporary shelter and support. With Yael Eisenberg in the leading role and a poetic black-and-white visual language, the film tells the story of someone looking for themselves, longing for belonging and healing in a life marked by upheaval and hurt.
