"Im Rhythmus der Großstadt – 100 Jahre Fotografie und Presse in Berlin" is a photography exhibition at the Stabi Kulturwerk. Curated by Miriam Zlobinski with Christina Stehr, it combines historic pictures from the bpk photo archive, newspapers from the collections of the Berlin State Library and work by photographers of the OSTKREUZ agency. From the 1920s to today it traces how photography reshaped the Berlin press, from the historic newspaper district with up to 147 daily papers and the beginnings of illustrated journalism to censorship, propaganda and the separate press landscapes of East and West Berlin. Themes such as politics, sport, city life and crime reflect the social values and conflicts of their times.
