A guided tour of the Berlin Museum of Medical History at the Charité that traces how the medical and social view of children has changed. It follows the path from difficult births and high child mortality to the emergence of paediatrics and diseases such as rickets, diphtheria and polio. It covers not only new medicines and treatments but also nutrition and living conditions, hygiene and vaccinations, as well as participation and self-determination. It becomes a history of how children were increasingly seen not just as bodies to be treated, but as young people with their own needs, experiences and rights.
