Nine acrobats meet at a bus stop that resembles a purgatory: they all try to leave something behind, unsure where to go next, and must find a shared way forward over the course of a day and a night before they can greet a new morning together. „Kintsugi“ is one of the most ambitious works by Machine de Cirque, an established contemporary circus company from Québec, and marks its debut at the Chamäleon. The show takes its name from the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold so that the cracks stay visible and beauty is found in imperfection. Countless circus disciplines intertwine on a dream-like set shifting between past and present, in a piece that is at once intense, playful, ethereal and deeply uplifting.
