The Heinrich-Schulz-Bibliothek hosts an author reading in which Kerstin Hensel presents her new book of stories, Abendgruß. The book brings together two artfully contrasting narratives: the story of siblings Karin and Wolf Kohlmann growing up in the GDR in the late 1960s, alongside glimpses into a life today. Hensel, born in Karl-Marx-Stadt in 1961 and a writer of poetry, novels and stories, portrays false morality, petty bourgeois attitudes and shattered dreams, at times poetic, at times wryly ironic. A reading promising to be both profound and entertaining for anyone interested in contemporary German literature.
