A drama about the competition launched by French Prime Minister François Mitterand in 1982 for a monument marking the 200th anniversary of the French Revolution. The commission unexpectedly goes to the little-known Danish architect Otto von Spreckelsen, who until then had designed only four churches and his own home. He is assigned Jean-Louis Subilon, a bureaucrat trying to mediate between him and the prime minister, along with his French colleague Paul Andreu, yet quarrels dominate the construction site of the giant cube while the political climate in France shifts and the project comes under threat. The film was made by director Stéphane Demoustier.
