„Memory & Identity in Contemporary Kazakhstani Art“ is an exhibition of photography, film, audio and literature. A group of five MA East European Studies students at Freie Universität Berlin stages it together with the contemporary artists Almagul Menlibayeva, Oksana Shatalova, Safina Aktay and Irina Dmitrovskaya from Kazakhstan. Their works deal with memory, identity and belonging in times of social and political change. The show creates an open space for encounters and discussion and makes perspectives visible that have so far received little attention in German debates on Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
