A reading followed by a discussion on the many forms of movement in the animal kingdom. IGB researcher Sophia Kimmig reads from her book and shows why movement is essential for the survival of species and functioning ecosystems – and how environmental changes, barriers and human interventions interrupt natural movement corridors. Afterwards, her colleague Franz Hölker explains who travels through our nocturnal landscapes and why connectivity is key to a species-rich and healthy environment. Angelina Tittmann moderates; the event takes place in cooperation with the Leibniz Institute of Freshwater Ecology and Inland Fisheries, and registration is requested.
