"Raumschiff Erde" is a live-moderated planetarium show in which the audience boards the planetarium spaceship and sets off on a journey through space. The programme is presented at the Archenhold-Sternwarte observatory in Berlin-Treptow and starts with the countdown: from outer space our Earth is seen orbiting the Sun, first on its sunlit day side and then on the dark night side with the lights of the big cities. The trip then goes on to the Moon with its deep craters, dark patches and lunar phases, and into the depths of the solar system to the planets' orbits. The final stop is the Sun, a real star, with its glowing surface, before the spaceship flies back to Earth.
