"SAN PAOLO – Das Martyrium von Pasolini" is a theatre premiere that uses a blend of drama, dance, video, and sound art to explore what a Pauline conversion might look like today, in the face of a resurgent fascism. It centres on Pier Paolo Pasolini, who worked on a screenplay in which the Acts of the Apostles begins during the Nazi era and extends into his own time in postwar Europe, and who was murdered under circumstances that remain unclear. The ensemble is led by director David Stöhr and dramaturge Dirk Brauner; it is a production by Dirk Brauner & David Stöhr, funded by Hauptstadtkulturfonds and coproduced by Theater unterm Dach. The stage languages are German, English, Farsi, French, Italian, and Spanish, with surtitles in German and English.
