"Spaces & Species: Light and Dark" is a Lab Talk on reducing light pollution as a design task. It is held in collaboration with the Berlin Senate Department for Mobility, Transport, Climate Protection and the Environment and explores how lighting design can balance safety, atmosphere and urban quality with the protection of nature and nocturnal ecosystems. It focuses on the new Section 41a of the German Federal Nature Conservation Act and what it means for practice. With contributions from lighting designers, architects and planners, it discusses how contemporary lighting concepts can protect both people and nature.
