„Sumi-e Aquarell“ is an introductory workshop in Sumi-e, the traditional Japanese ink painting strongly influenced by Zen. The workshop is led by Katja, a calligrapher and graphic designer. After simple brush exercises, classic motifs such as the symbolic bamboo and other plants are painted – with clear brushstrokes, mindful reduction and the interplay of form and emptiness. Work is done with black ink, fine watercolor brushes and rice or watercolor paper, with all materials included.
