The film 'The Wailing - Die Besessenen' shows mysterious illnesses and brutal acts of violence spreading through a Korean village. Police officer Jong-gu initially has little idea how to investigate, while rumours blame a Japanese stranger living alone in the mountains. When his daughter develops disturbing symptoms, the case becomes a desperate personal search in which a shaman is called in to help and an unfamiliar woman offers a warning. With every apparent explanation, it becomes harder to distinguish between illness, superstition and a real threat. Na Hong-jin directed, with Kwak Do-won, Hwang Jung-min and Jun Kunimura on screen.
