In the fall of 1961, the mayor of a small village in the Thuringian border region accidentally learns of a secret plan to forcibly relocate all the inhabitants. 53 people risk the dangerous border crossing to the West, but not everyone is prepared to flee, and a Stasi informer threatens to betray the plan. Based on true events, the feature film tells a gripping story of courage, solidarity and the longing for freedom. After the screening, a contemporary witness and experts discuss the events.
