VON FISCHEN UND FRAUEN is a play at the Renaissance-Theater Berlin. Guntbert Warns and Karim Mezdour direct the piece, on a set by Ezio Toffolutti with costumes by Ariane Warns, about two anglers who set out early in the morning and talk about rods and favourite lures as well as about the passion for fishing that mothers and grandmothers hand down to their daughters. Their quiet idyll is disturbed when a talkative boathouse renter calls the fisheries inspector down on the pair. The laconic comedy, built on waiting, hobbies, failure, slowing down and the big catch, plays with gender roles and female solidarity in a fine sense of humour; the cast includes Imogen Kogge, Valerie Neuenfels, Adrienne von Mangoldt and Irina Sulaver.
