A Man of His Time (original title: Notre Salut) is a film about Henri Marre, a 49-year-old engineer who arrives alone in Vichy in September 1940 as the Pétain regime settles in. Carrying copies of his self-published manifesto Notre Salut, he seeks his rightful place in the new administration through active collaboration, driven by patriotic convictions and a methodology of efficiency above all. Zealously serving the machinery of the new order in the name of saving France after defeat, he tries at the same time to salvage his family relations. Directed by Emmanuel Marre and based on the life of the director's great-grandfather, the film stars Swann Arlaud, Sandrine Blancke and Mathieu Perotto and won Best Screenplay at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival.
