The Academic English Workshop Series (2026/27 Term 1) is a run of online sessions on Teams for students who speak English as an additional language and want to build confidence in academic communication. Birkbeck, whose contact for the series is Melanie Ferreira, runs these friendly Friday sessions covering academic writing, developing arguments, critical reading and writing, and communication in academic contexts. International students adapting to study in the UK are welcome to join and ask questions, with individual topics running from an academic English Q&A through vocabulary, essay structure and paraphrasing to a review of academic language. Each session needs booking, and participants log into Teams with their Birkbeck student login details.
