Affluenza is a dark comedic play about wealth and the consequences of immense privilege. It is written and directed by Andy Sandberg, who stages its world premiere with a company including Noah Schnapp, Janette Manrara, Juliet Cowan, Wallis Currie-Wood, Rupert Young and Donald Sage Mackay. Set within the extreme wealth of the Hamptons, it begins after a teenager's drunken car ride ends in devastation and asks whether a person who has grown up with so much privilege can truly tell right from wrong. Inspired by true events around a controversial legal defence, it examines what happens when money and entitlement are passed from one generation to the next.
