An evening conversation about digital archives, databases and repositories, with questions such as how vulnerable digital collections are compared to physical ones, the future of data centres, and whether anyone can truly be off-grid. It is a session of the Archiving from Below series hosted by Ambivalent Archives, a Cambridge-based research lab exploring critical archival research and practice. Convenor Dr Sophie Marie Niang will talk with Dr Siddharth Soni about the dreams and pitfalls of digitisation, the (im)possibilities of non-hierarchical archival spaces online, and how organisers can use them critically. Attendees can also engage with growing collections of ecological direct action, including Do or Die!, Green Line, Live Wild or Die, Earth First! Tree Flesh, tactical guides and practical action manuals.
