Community afternoons is a free drop-in session at the Horniman Museum where visitors can get up close with the museum's Handling Collection and meet local community groups. The Horniman Museum runs these Thursday afternoon sessions in its Hands on Base, near the entrance. The collection includes toys, musical instruments, clothes from around the world, puppets, taxidermy and masks, which visitors can touch, wear and discover for themselves. Some sessions are run in partnership with local community groups, who choose objects from the collections and share the stories of what they mean to them.
