Grass Roots is a monthly live music night at the CLF Art Lounge's Pop Up space in Peckham, South London, dedicated to supporting young and emerging London-based jazz artists, taking place on the first Thursday of the month. The November edition puts the spotlight on Daniel Scott Phillips, an up-and-coming jazz drummer studying at Trinity Laban and at Tomorrow's Warriors, mentored by Gary Crosby OBE, Denys Baptiste and Binker Golding. He has performed at venues and events including the Southbank Centre, We Out Here Festival, Brick Lane Jazz Festival and Dizzy's Club in New York. Taking inspiration from Branford Marsalis, Kenny Garrett and Jeff 'Tain' Watts, Daniel and his quintet will play original compositions as well as re-imagined jazz standards, with styles ranging from hard bop to avant-garde.
