An intimate masterclass in the Banaras gharana, a tradition of khayal singing where classical technique and emotional truth are inseparable. It is led by Sunanda Sharma, a senior disciple of the legendary Girija Devi and one of the foremost practitioners of the Banaras gharana style. Part demonstration and part conversation, she sings to show how the gharana's approach to raga differs from other schools and how specific melodic phrases and rhythmic choices carry meaning that theory alone cannot convey. The hour-long talk is followed by a 30-minute question-and-answer session with the audience.
