An evening conversation at MayDay Rooms about the book 'Decolonizing Money: The Promise of Abolishing the US Dollar' and what abolishing the dollar could make possible. Its author Julio César Linares, a community organizer and economic anthropologist from the territories known today as Guatemala who lives in Berlin, presents an anarchist theory of money. Drawing on anarchist, abolitionist and anti-colonial feminist traditions, he argues for a grassroots democratic movement to abolish the imperialist US dollar as a step towards cancelling debt and a worldwide basic income. The discussion explores forms of direct action people can take from London to dismantle the US dollar empire.
