The Elias String Quartet gives a concert of string quartets and folk songs. The programme marks Sally Beamish's 70th birthday year with two of the three quartets she wrote for the group, each taking a Robert Schumann string quartet as its point of creative departure, alongside a Schumann quartet and a selection of folk songs arranged by the quartet's violinist Donald Grant, a master of the Scottish fiddle tradition. The concert lasts about two hours including an interval.
