A documentary film about Edward Said, followed by a question-and-answer session. Twenty years after his death, it lets the Palestinian-American scholar recount his life and the untold history of Palestine in his own words. Made with full access to the Said family and estate, it draws on unseen family archives, home movies, recordings, interviews, lectures and rare television appearances. Spanning seven decades from his childhood in Jerusalem through exile to his final years in New York, it traces his political awakening, personal struggles and lifelong search for home and belonging, while asking who has the right to tell their own story.
