A chamber music concert by the Elias String Quartet at Wigmore Hall. The quartet — Sara Bitlloch and Donald Grant on violin, Simone van der Giessen on viola and Marie Bitlloch on cello — marks Sally Beamish's 70th birthday year with two of the three quartets she wrote for them, each taking a Robert Schumann string quartet as its point of departure. The programme also includes Schumann's String Quartet in A minor Op. 41 No. 1 and a selection of folk songs arranged by Donald Grant, a master of the Scottish fiddle tradition. The concert lasts approximately 2 hours including an interval.
