Explore 50: five decades of discovery is a lecture of short talks marking five decades of Society-supported exploration. The Royal Geographical Society hosts it, with Paul Rose as MC and five speakers, each representing a different decade since 1976: Nigel Winser, Robert Swan, Rachel Carr, Mark Day and Alastair Humphreys. They share stories from the field showing the challenges, research outputs and evolving purpose of expeditionary fieldwork. Two RGS-Risman Environmental Changemakers, Elizabeth Follows and Angeni Perez-Jamieson, will also join, and the talks chart how exploration has changed while highlighting the enduring values that unite it.
