A Remembrance talk at Abney Park cemetery on Military Pin-Stuck Cushions, heart-shaped keepsakes made by servicemen from the Crimean War to the First World War, exploring their role as symbols of remembrance. It is given by Alessandra Curtis, a British-Italian folklorist with a background in archaeology, and subject specialist of the Military Pin Stuck Cushions exhibition at the Fashion and Textile Museum. Abney Park holds 262 First World War burials, and the talk considers the cushions' emotional narratives and the Imperial War Graves Commission's role in 1917. Please meet at the Abney Park Chapel.
