Freud's Afternoon Session – Greek Myths for a Post-truth World is an in-house talk at the Freud Museum London, held on the museum's first floor during regular opening hours. It is given by Yiannis Gabriel, a Greek social psychologist and Professor Emeritus at Bath University, who is presenting his latest book. He uses favourite ancient Greek myths as starting points to explore the troubles of our post-truth times, from environmental degradation, mass migration and war to inequality, exclusion, authoritarianism and perplexing technological possibilities. Gabriel will invite the audience to think mythologically, argue that Greek myths act as fountains of meaning and have a therapeutic power, and consider individual and collective courses of action they open up.
