An exhibition on show at a historic house in Brentford, free to enter with no booking needed. 'How We Lost America' explores the dawn of American Independence through a British lens, uncovering hidden histories of female revolutionaries, enslaved soldiers who fought for their liberty and a radical arsonist who bombed Portsmouth Harbour. It was created by Aurora Metro Arts & Media with support from The National Lottery Heritage Fund, and visits Boston Manor House before touring other venues until spring 2027. Its run is accompanied by talks by leading academics and readings of Howard Ginsberg's play Jefferson & Adams.
