Speaker Zhaoyang Liu talks about degree-d rational plane curves through 3d-1 generic points, counted by N_d. The talk aims to sketch the proof of Kontsevich's celebrated recurrence formula, which computes all N_d recursively, and touches on its geometric origin, moduli spaces and the associativity of quantum cohomology. It takes place in Room 140 of the Huxley Building on the South Kensington Campus.
