La Bola Negra is a film told across three timelines. In Spain in 1932, a young man waits to learn whether he has secured membership of the local casino; in 1937, a young nationalist soldier guards a republican prisoner; and in 2017, an historian inherits an unexpected document from his grandfather. These timelines and a breath-taking cinematic audacity shape a dazzlingly constructed and performed triptych about communication, inheritance, silence and memory.
