A guided tour through the Library and Archive of the Wallace Collection, taking place in the Library on the Lower Ground Floor. It delves into the lives of the women connected to the collection, beginning with Lady Wallace, who bequeathed the collection to the nation in 1897. Visitors learn about the first female visitors to Hertford House, from the American collector Isabella Stewart Gardner to the suffragist and art historian Lady Dilke. The tour highlights the traces these women left behind, shown through historic photographs, rare books and archival papers.
