Liminal (Work-in-Progress) is a performance at Battersea Arts Centre that blends performance magic with live art, movement and film, inviting audiences to explore the boundaries between illusion and reality. It is created and performed by Hsiang-Sheng Teng, a London-based interdisciplinary artist from Taiwan, with outside eye Tom Cassani and support from Forecast / Skills e.V. Drawing on his experience learning silk magic from a Japanese sensei, the piece reveals the hidden world and politics of silk, showing through transformations and recurring actions how illusion is constructed and sustained. It takes audiences on a journey through the 'in-betweenness' of the ordinary and the extraordinary, East and West, the visible and the invisible, performance and life, and illusion and reality.
