London Ambient Orchestra Presents: An Evening of Improvised Music and Sonic Exploration is a large-ensemble concert of orchestral improvisation rooted in stillness and sound exploration. The London Ambient Orchestra brings together conservatoire-trained contemporary classical players and avant-garde improvisers from diverse backgrounds, creating an improvisational language that defies traditional thinking of what an orchestra can be. The fourteen musicians perform dreamy sound worlds reminiscent of ambient pioneers like Brian Eno, alongside Pauline Oliveros-like sound meditations, minimalism and raucous free improvisation. The lineup spans flutes, harp, clarinets, saxophone, trombone, strings, live effects processing, piano, double bass and percussion.
