Monday Mending Club is a monthly drop-in gathering where you bring something to mend, with shared tools and guidance for beginners. It was set up by Walthamstow-based textile artist Mika Sembongi as a reaction to the climate crisis with an emphasis on positive action. Since February 2022 it has introduced complete beginners to traditional invisible mending and the Japanese craft of Sashiko, where a repair becomes a creative stitched design to wear with pride. The focus is on the meditative joy of craft, friendly chat and supporting each other, and no booking is needed - just turn up.
