Mother Tongue is a theatre show about women whose identities have been altered or taken by violence, whose sisterhood emerges from the earth each full moon desperate to have their stories heard. It mixes live music, spoken word, scenes and movement, drawing on ritualistic theatre and the horror genre, with an original score played and sung live and text in English and the performers' native languages. It is written and directed by Gabrielle Hofmann, composed and musically directed by Ciara Cogley, with assistant producers Arne van der Esch and Karol Stanisz, and is an Out of Place Theatre production.
