Participants read the papers together on high resolution scans and produce a collective transcription, working from the most legible texts to the least, and treat them as a piece of art using a queer methodology of interdisciplinarity, playfulness and reading between the lines. The workshop is led by Ema Sala, a Caird Fellow at Royal Museums Greenwich researching female sailors and coordinator of the museum's Queer History Club. It is free, aimed at everyone at every level of manuscript reading, and takes place in the Plymouth Room in a hybrid format, with in-person attendance strongly encouraged.", "url": "https://noky.io/en/london/events/peglar-papers-reading-workshop-37273/", "official_url": "https://www.rmg.co.uk/whats-on/national-maritime-museum/peglar-papers-reading-workshop", "image": "https://noky.io/images/183a399f827b6b6779986c42c0ade4f25e102ad8d697b866ccd35e437e08e03b-1200.webp", "dates": [{"start": "2026-11-12T18:00:00Z", "end": "2026-11-12T20:00:00Z", "place": "National Maritime Museum", "address": "Romney Road, SE10 9NF London", "tickets": ""}, {"start": "2027-01-14T18:00:00Z", "end": "2027-01-14T20:00:00Z", "place": "National Maritime Museum", "address": "Romney Road, SE10 9NF London", "tickets": ""}, {"start": "2027-02-18T18:00:00Z", "end": "2027-02-18T20:00:00Z", "place": "National Maritime Museum", "address": "Romney Road, SE10 9NF London", "tickets": ""}, {"start": "2027-03-18T18:00:00Z", "end": "2027-03-18T20:00:00Z", "place": "National Maritime Museum", "address": "Romney Road, SE10 9NF London", "tickets": ""}, {"start": "2027-04-15T18:00:00+01:00", "end": "2027-04-15T20:00:00+01:00", "place": "National Maritime Museum", "address": "Romney Road, SE10 9NF London", "tickets": ""}], "similar": [{"title": "Conference - Maritime Histories from the Margins: People, Places, and Practices, 1500–Present", "start": "2026-11-11T09:00:00Z", "end": "2026-11-11T17:00:00Z", "place": "National Maritime Museum", "address": "Romney Road, SE10 9NF London", "price": "Adult: £60 | Member: £55 | Early Career Researcher/Student: £30", "price_from": "60.00", "price_to": "60.00", "tickets_url": "https://tickets.rmg.co.uk/webstore/shop/viewItems.aspx?cg=MEMTIK&c=MEMCON#17704", "category": "talks-readings", "tags": ["history/maritime"], "description": "A two-day interdisciplinary conference on maritime histories from around 1500 to the present.
