This is an in-person lecture at the Freud Museum London marking the museum's 40th anniversary. It is given by Christian Dunker, a psychoanalyst, professor at the University of São Paulo and award-winning writer. The talk reflects on why psychoanalysis, more than a century after its emergence, still sparks interest and debate. Drawing on themes such as psychic suffering, identity, culture and politics, it asks why psychoanalysis continues to offer a way of understanding the present and the impasses of human experience.
